We generally choose to go out to stud to ensure we select the best males possible for our girls.  Despite having bred a fair number of male alpaca we have not used any of our boys until Ginger came along.  Even then we only used him very cautiously and sparingly initially to make sure he could produce the quality we were looking for.  We have been delighted with the results.  He has produced super, coloured cria ranging from fawn to dark brown from fawn dams with fine, dense fleeces.  We have therefore started to use him more and so a number of our girls for sale have been mated to him.

His 6th fleece was still very fine at 22 micron and he has historically, consistantly had the most dense/best fleece on farm.

And here he is… not just a fab fleece!
